Suggested Publication: “Student perception of Moodle learning management system: a satisfaction and significance analysis” by Horvat, Dobrota, Krsmanovic, Cudanov (2013)

This research study addresses differences in student perception of the significance of Moodle learning management system (LMS) quality characteristics and differences in student satisfaction in regard to such characteristics. In this study, it has been shown that male and female students are equally satisfied with Moodle LMS quality characteristics and that there is a difference in the significance that students give to these characteristics. Moreover, based on students’ age and year of study, it was found that these groups had different significance levels for quality characteristics and were not equally satisfied with them. It was also found that there is a substantial statistical difference in the significance students gave to quality characteristics and in student satisfaction itself, according to how much time they spent using the Moodle application.A further analysis of the variables demonstrated that the following components of quality characteristics were more important to female students: average waiting time for a response, feedback quality, material thoroughness, material clarity, website user-friendliness, cooperation diversity, and material quantity.

Presentations types:

  • 15-20 minute talks
  • round table discussion

The topics can include the reporting of:

  • best practices and advice on using pedagogical strategies with Moodle (i.e., flipped-classroom, blended learning, etc.)
  • implementation of Moodle resources and activities (i.e., book, label, quiz, forum, notifications, etc.)
  • other topics that impact instruction and learning (i.e., student cognitive development, student motivation, teachers usage of technology, etc.)

Proposal Requirements:

  • Please submit your proposal by completing the Google Form
  • As the majority of participants will be from Anglophone sector colleges submissions and presentations are preferred in English but may be in French as well.
  • N.B. Presenters must be registered and available to present and attend the event on May 26th.

Presentation detailed info:

  1. SHORT PRESENTATIONS should be 15 minutes in length, with 5 minutes for Q&A, providing space for 3 presenters per session and 10 minutes of joint discussion time at the end.
  2. ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION combine the graphic display of materials with the opportunity to discuss the intended topic. Sessions will be organized around a common theme or body of work.

Moodle Day 2017 at Dawson Call for Proposals

Greetings to you all,

 

On Friday, May 26, 2017 we will be organizing the Moodle Day 2017 at Dawson College.

We are inviting all the ones interested in Moodle and its features to share with us this event.

We would like to hear from anyone who has used Moodle activities and resources applying pedagogical strategies in their instruction as well as those who have been conducting tests using Moodle and its plugins, etc.

Your experience with Moodle is very important and there are many of us that would like to hear about your success stories or your challenges.

We, the Moodle Day organizers, are looking forward to receiving your submissions.

Taking in consideration the fact that the majority will be participants from the Anglophone sector we welcome proposals from individuals or groups in English but French is welcome as well.
